When Jillian and I got together on a late August day, we were pushing our luck with both the sunset and the smoke. BC has been experiencing a record level of smoke, due to forest fires in our interior. Thanks to some pressure changes in our atmosphere, instead of the smoke rising and escaping, it was trapped and pushed coast-ward. It’s made for some very interesting results for local photographers, myself included.

With a “Baywatch” style red one piece and a bolt of fabric, we traipsed to the north side of my favourite beach in Victoria, Willows Beach!

I was expecting a fun late afternoon shoot.

What we got was magic.
