How wonderful is it that we can shoot year round here in British Columbia?
Fort Rodd and adjacent Fisgard Lighthouse comprise the two main structures at the Canadian Historical Parks site in Colwood, BC. I love the grounds here. There is so much to wander around and experience. On a previous trip to the park with my son and husband, we met an ocean otter eating some lunch while floating near the beach! No shortage of signs of wildlife, the man-made history is also unique.
The artillery fortress (the “Fort Rodd” part of the park) was in service as late as 1956, but had it’s beginnings in 1895. The Fisgard Lighthouse is the oldest lighthouse on the West Coast of Canada!
Caitlin had put a call out for photographers that would like to work with her while she was out in Victoria. Caitlin works with the Masala Modelling Agency out of Saskatoon, SK, and wanted to add to her portfolio while she was out on the coast.
She was a pleasure and a joy to work with. Caitlin commented on my laid back shooting style; many photographers demand a very serious and focused look when working with models, but I enjoy getting the natural laughter and the fluidity of form that happens when people are relaxed. We did not get the opportunity to poke through the military portions of the grounds as much of them were in off-season repair. But our tromp around the trails still yielded some great images.
